Quick introduction.

I live in Chicago, but I grew up in New England.  Between Halloween and my birthday (the following day) autumn was my favorite season as a child.  With all the candy, refreshing weather, new school supplies (aka my beginnings of my art supply addiction) and the glorious colors of the trees I cannot think of anything more dear to my heart then a perfect autumn day.

I started these tree embroideries with a Red Bud tree for my mother.  My mother loves Red Bud trees, to the point where we would drive out of our way places so we could pass all the trees we knew about in our area.  I knew I wanted to embroider something for my mother, not only had she taught me sewing and embroidery as a child but these embroidery threads were a mix of hers, her mothers and my own.

I have continued making trees, but now I am making autumn trees.  I miss them so very much and I find trying to recreate my favorite childhood memories utterly relaxing.
